The Interlace

The Interlace is a newly completed mixed-use residential project in Singapore designed by the famous architectural firm OMA, the project is in collaboration with local company RSP Architects Planners & Engineers (Pte) Ltd.

The Interlace is located on an 8ha plot of land, surrounded by Alexandra Road and Ayer Rajah Expressway, in the lush Southern Ridges area of Singapore. The project with about 170,000 square meters of floor area offers 1,040 highly comfortable apartments with different areas. In addition to the value of architectural form, the project has the value of landscape and "sky". The land is located within a green belt stretching between Kent Ridge, Telok Blangah Hill and Mount Faber Parks.

Designed by Ole Scheeren, a partner at the Office of Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), The Interlace eliminates the standard apartment design classifications in Singapore because instead of developing a vertical structure, Interlace develops in segments. horizontal position. This is considered a new approach and development method for high-density tropical architecture. There are 31 apartment blocks in total, each 6-storey high with residential units integrating the structures of the tropical natural environment. These blocks are arranged in a hexagon to form 8 residential spaces combined with green trees, with open courtyards. The interlocking blocks form a vertical “village” with a green sky garden and terrace, which integrates both private and public exploitation functions.

The Interlace design optimizes the generous size of the site, maximizing the presence of nature with spacious roof gardens, with playgrounds, balconies, and a ground level that reduces motorized traffic. , instead there are lush green gardens. Interlace structures integrate sustainable features through analyzing operational environmental factors such as ventilation and lighting, while integrating low-impact passive energy strategies.

Patricia Chia, CEO of CapitaLand Singapore, said: “This is a great opportunity to create and build a great destination in Gillman Heights. In addition to developing impressive facade architectural forms, we also paid much attention to creating interior spaces. The name The Interlace is a testament to the strengthening of the community's connection to the surrounding natural environment. Ole Scheeren has created a new turning point for the housing sector in particular, and Sustainable Architecture in general in Singapore."
